Personally, I really liked the film. One of the best I've seen lately.

I loved this film and cried like a baby at the end. Unlike most films based on bestselling novels, this one remained true to the text.

      I didn't like it.
I cried and was moved through the movie but at when I realized how clear the message was that Afghanistan and Pakistan were "evil" and America was THE place to be and remain safe I got quite disgusted....
      Tired of such stupid message...
      Tired, really tired of this.

        I thought it was decent
Now, keep in mind, I did not read the book...but, the (Ex) GF I was involved with at the time read the book, her cousin raved about the book and so when the movie came out? She and I went to go see it.
I am sure the book was much better than the movie itself, but...all in all? I thought it was a pretty good film and worth seeing

The messages I got out of the Movie/Story?
Wasn't about how "Evil" Afghanistan and Pakistan were and how "good" America was....
What I got out of it was basically a tale of redemption.....
The main character did something so bad during his childhood that he had to return back to an area that went from being an incredible place to live culturally and historically and was totally destroyed and reduced to a fourth world country due to the war with the Soviet Union and then the living hell on earth that the Taliban transformed it into during the 80-ies, 90-ies and up until recently too.
It was a story where the main character attempted to make ammends and right the wrong that he helped create

That is just my take on the story/movie
